Cookie policy

EllieWish currently uses essential cookies and similar storage only. We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. This explains our website storage and the separate websites you may open through the app.

Cookies are small values stored by your browser. Local storage also keeps values on your device, separately from cookies. UK cookie rules apply to both. Strictly necessary storage used to provide a service you request does not need optional-cookie consent, but we still explain its use.

Drupal session cookies, normally named SSESS followed by an identifier on HTTPS sites (or SESS on HTTP), identify your session. They support sign-in, request security, password-protected wishlist access, and managing gifts from the same browser. Related authentication and anti-forgery state is held in the session, not used for advertising.

Session access lasts according to the site's session-expiry rules and your browser settings; signing out invalidates signed-in access. A guest reservation itself lasts 24 hours, which is not the lifetime of every session cookie. Purchased gifts can remain manageable in the same browser while its session is available.

Clearing or blocking session cookies can sign you out, remove password grants and lose guest access to manage your gifts. Clearing a browser cookie does not itself delete the underlying account or gift record.

When you choose Got it, we store only the acknowledgement time in local storage under elliewish.cookieNotice.v1. This remembers your request not to repeat the notice for 180 days in that browser. It is not a user identifier or permission for tracking. No acknowledgement is stored until you press the button.

You can reopen the notice using Cookie notice in the footer. Clear this local-storage entry in your browser to remove the preference; the notice will appear again. If storage is blocked, the notice can still be dismissed for the current page.

Retailer pages opened in Ellie Browser or an external browser, remote image hosts and optional sign-in services have their own storage and privacy practices. Their notices apply to those services; our Got it button does not accept their cookies.

The EllieWish app also stores sign-in credentials and preferences on the device for the features you request. Signing out or clearing application data affects that device storage, but does not by itself delete your EllieWish account.

Optional analytics or advertising cookies are not enabled by this notice. Before introducing storage that requires consent, we will update this policy and provide appropriate controls before setting it, including an equally accessible way to refuse or withdraw consent.
